T. his crash site is an extensive area of wreckage from a USAF Boeing B-29 Superfortress nick-named “Over Exposed” which crashed on November 3rd 1948. Lancaster Bomber - Mk.X, RCAF This crash site and memorial to a Canadian Lancaster Bomber is about a mile away from the B-29 crash site. Day 1

The walk will be on a mixture of good tracks and some smaller footpaths which are rough in places. There will also be some sections on open moorland away from any paths. At any time of year there are likely to be some wet and muddy sections, especially on Bleaklow and Kinder Scout with their peat bogs. As, at times we will be leaving the paths and walking across rougher ground as we head to the crash sites, walking boots providing ankle support and keeping your feet dry are strongly recommended.
The walk will vary in length depending on which locations you wish to include. We will discuss and agree this with you. As a general guide it can be anything between a short 8km / 5miles and a more challenging 25km / 15miles. There are also a number of different locations where we could start the walk from such as the Snake Pass, Old Glossop or Hayfield. Some of the routes could include a fairly long hill of around 350m / 1200ft but there are also other less hilly options.
